What to Know When House Hunting this Fall

Preparing You for Home Buying Success
Posted: September 15, 2020 by Jessica Wimberly

Here's the truth about this fall: there are currently more buyers looking for homes than there are homes for sale. We haven't seen this low of inventory in YEARS! (We are talking historical lows!)

This means that if you're looking to buy, you might find yourself in a competitive situation when you find the home you love.

Here are a few things that we want you to keep in mind as you think about starting your search:

1. You should always have a pre-approval letter in hand before you start house hunting. If you find something you love, the seller will probably not wait for you to go through the pre-approval process and you're likely to miss out. This is an easy process and our agents can point you in the right direction so that you can get started.

2. Decide in advance what you are willing to compromise on. If a backyard, attached garage and fireplace are non negotiable, will you settle for a smaller kitchen and no bonus room?

3. Think about what you will do if you find yourself in a multiple offer situation. Will you be comfortable offering over asking? Are you flexible on close date? How much deposit money are you prepared to offer?

These are all questions our experienced agents can help you answer during a buyer consultation. If you'd like to start planning your upcoming home search, give us a call and we will get your on your way to home buying success!
